An after school event also took place on May 10th at Ontario Municipal Airport. . There, 29 disadvantaged "at risk" kids were introduced to flight.

Many more kids showed up than the 6 or 7 that were originally expected. Because the pre-event count was low, only a few pilots were assembled for the after school program. When so many showed up, the pilots became concerned about being able to fly everyone. Young Eagles Coordinator, Jim Holton, could only fly one at a time in his RV-4. Newsletter Co-Editor, Linda Daniels, had the same issue with her two place Kit Fox. Chapter Treasurer, Dr. Jim Mann (Retired), was also limited to one passenger in his Cessna 152 Aerobat. After 3 flights each, there were still alot of kids to fly.

The pilots were getting worried because they didn't want to send anybody home without having had a flight. Then, Pete Morgan came along and saved the day. With his 4 place Cessna 172, Pete took up 3 kids at a time.

The Chapter 837 Young Eagle pilots worked together. They each made several trips around the valley, making sure all 29 kids got their first flight! Thanks everyone for pitching in!

The next big event took place June 2nd, at Idaho's Weiser Airport for their Airport Appreciation Day. Pilots were surprised at the number of "older" people who showed up wanting a flight. The challenge was met by an enthusiastic bunch of local pilots who volunteered to fly all the "Gray Eagles" who wanted to experience the joy of flight. ("Gray Eagles" is an unofficial term describing those 18 - 80 who are to old for the YE Prog). All total, an estimated 200 Young Eagles and Gray Eagles were flown that day.
