Dick Strawn will be bringing refreshments
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Young Eagles : October 8, 2005, we had our Young Eagle Day that we had promised at the Air Faire. We had eight planes and several ground support. We really appreciated the support from EAA 103 from Nampa-Caldwell. Dale Alexander brought his computer and printer, Young Eagle signs, and lots of info. They also had three pilots bring their airplanes over to help fly the 53 kids that showed up. The weather forecast wasn’t very promising, but it turned out to be a pretty nice day. Everyone had a good time.

Air Faire : Foul weather suppressed the turn-out to the Air Faire. It was one of the few bad days we’ve had this fall. The rainy weather didn’t dampen the spirits of the ones who showed up. Kathy Hinz put on an awesome show in her Pitts. Her husband Steve Wolf did a great job narrating. He would have been flying also, except he fell out of his hanger and broke his foot. Steve has built some of the most famous air show airplanes including the GeeBee, Samson Bi-Plane, Hughes H-1 replica, etc. Kathy is a neurosurgeon who is now in family practice in Eugene. She has only been flying for four and a half years. We also had fly-bys by one of Merle’s Vampires, an L-39 that flew in from Washington, and a Lancair 4P that flew in on his way back from the Reno Air Races. The breakfast and lunch were well attended. Curt Hawkins did a great job as MC for the music. Special thanks goes to Gary Taylor for being the Air Boss during the Airspace closure. The Air Faire group did a good job. Dorin will have pictures to show at the meeting.

Airport Closure : The airport will be closed Wednesday thru Friday, October 19 th thru 21 st from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. for construction. The construction is ahead of schedule and going very well.

Bob Patrick sent another picture of his new Waco. He and Mary Sue were at the Ontario Airport October 17th. He said it was sure cold up at 8000 feet in the open cockpit!

Airport Construction: The first picture is of the new run-up area at 14. The second picture is the new mid-field turn off.

Airport Sign: Ken and Steve standing by the new EAA 837 sign at the entrance to the airport, painted by Steve’s sister.

Young Eagles: Kevin Hoirup giving pre-flight to a group of Young Eagles flown October 8th.

Air Faire: Kathy Hintz in her Pitts after her air show.
