Fly-Out: Our April Fly-Out is suggested to go to Owyhee Reservoir's Pelican Point for picnic on April 19, 2003, weather permitting. Our Fly-Out committee came up with several places to go now that the weather is getting nice.
Suggestions to think about are:

  • May 10: Weiser Airport Fun Day & Young Eagle Flights
  • May 24: Owyhee at Lake Nevada Campground on the lake.
  • May 31: Vale Airport Appreciation Day Lunch Barbeque, Old Cars, Helicopters, Ultra-lights, Parachute jumps.
  • June 21: Cliff Bonds in Baker, or Jackpot Poker Run
  • June 28: Gooding Airport Open House&Breakfast FREE Breakfast if you fly in.
  • July 16-19: Oregon Coast Trip with the Gooding EAA Tour Vans Aircraft Factory, McMinnville & Tillamook Air Museums, Ocean Fishing.
  • Sept. 13-14: Johnson Creek Camp-Over
Other Ideas: Garden Valley, Sunrise Skypark, McCall.

Ed.'s Note: Our youngest son, Randy Daniels, soloed in our Kitfox on February 24, 2003. He has also passed his written exam. All five members of our family, plus my brother and father have flown this plane - 7 Daniels in all. Our oldest son, Mike, soloed in a Cessna before the Fox was built, but then was checked out in the Kitfox and flew it quite a bit. He also assisted in building it. I think it helped inspire him, as he is a mechanical engineer doing research on spacecraft structures as an officer in the Air Force. Our middle son, Brian, did his first solo in the Fox. He is also active duty Air Force, now working on aircraft guidance and control systems. In our Kitfox build we have one plane flying, another ready to fly this week, and two more ready to fly within a few weeks. We have 3 fuselages painted, and 3 more are in the finishing stages of being painted, with 3 fuselages left to cover and paint.

Aviation Humor:
You start with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.
If all you can see out of the window is ground that's going round and round and all you can hear is commotion coming from the passenger compartment, things are not at all as they should be!
